RAMIREZ The Folk Musical Drama film is Official Selection of  Lift-Off Sessions London 2023!

The film and a short film were Selected and 

will have their world premiere in London 

What a way to start the year! And what a gift from the Magi! Congratulations to the directors, author, composer, cast, technicians, wardrobe people, props. Congratulations! 

Around noon on January 5th, we received the news that the short film was selected in London. We cannot reproduce in words the emotion, the excitement, the madness that there was when we found out. Incredible. A local production, from the Argentine interior, many of us who are working for the label and the media, and collaborate with this production, are not in the country.

As Argentines, the emotion of being outside and seeing that a group of people, without much support, or none other than their own efforts, achieve a milestone in the history of Entre Ríos cinema, and write their chapter of glory by receiving their laurels, is indescribable. They are also for Argentine cinema. And for those who know the work, a tremendous achievement for Entre Ríos culture.

With no budget for filming, Lucio Stoppello agrees to shoot "RAMIREZ Folk musical drama" and makes it a movie and more content. There was no money to record, film, or everything that goes into making these pieces, much less for post-production. Lucio not only faced a feature film, but in record time, he made a short film in competition, plus all the derivative content that is being produced. Both laureates in the UK!

The work of Daniel González Rebolledo, the book, script; the adaptation that he made with last-minute changes in the cast and choirs in the last performances of the play in 2022, the vicissitudes they had to go through, but with a work that stood out, is bearing these other fruits today. Lucio understood that if it managed to be a film, it would be something big. 

The original music and the masterful direction of voices and orchestra by Eduardo Retamar, give it additional value. The orchestra in the foreground of the camera, which Lucio gave the name "Entre Ríos Popular Music Orchestra" to give it a name in the records and the presence that corresponds to these artists for the stupendous work of accompaniment carried out in each function, giving as result a masterful work. 

It had to be filmed. And be sent to international festivals. And let the world see what can be done with a good work, a good book, good original music, a good cast, very good musicians, a good score and a masterful direction.

Once recorded, a separate challenge, cutting, editing and achieving quality material. In weeks. All these stages take months and thousands of hours of study work. 

It was recorded with a camera, like in classic cinema, but in a single take. It is rarely seen in modern cinema. With solvency and determination, knowing that despite the expected complications and limitations that might exist, the material was good. The raw material was very good. It was time to do the magic. And a film in sepia emerged, lasting an hour and a half with very good sound and an image that impacts from the first moment. And it is that Lucio V wanted to achieve a classic film, black and white or sepia. It seemed impossible from the first moment.

Lucio V Stoppello assuming all the risk and after the mere adventure of seeing if it was possible for an independent production from Entre Ríos, without much support other than the strength of a whole group of people, cast, technique, costumes, directors and the entire close circle , maybe I could get an application. Nobody imagined that in solitude, with a small group of collaborators, and great colleagues and friends, they would achieve something that we dream of together today, because beyond the distance, we share this dream come true, and it is just taking its first steps. A production nominated at an International Festival, Europe or the United States, one of the meccas of cinema. And why not dream of a selection at a festival.

And days away from starting 2023, on January 5, 2023 - Selection x 2! Movie and short!

Suddenly, with the entire team in charge of the nomination, we were waiting if the same thing happened with the film. The anxiety was increasing. 

Someone in the United States says via Skype that there was no precedent that two Argentine products by the same author, composer, director, of the same work were selected at the same Festival.

And it is that both in the short and long contests, the pieces stand out. And they succeeded in their first foreign attempt.

Historic for the Coast and Entre Ríos. It was a 1-2 in London. 

Because at the time of the first big news, we see on the registration platform that they reported that the film also appeared in the Official Selection of the Festival! Historical! 2 pieces of the seventh art, from Entre Ríos Selected at a London festival! (we share extracts of the emails received from the organization of the festival)

The Lift-Off Sessions is a showcase dedicated to bringing new audiences to the independent film market, ending with an annual live screening of the winning films from the UK's Pinewood Studios.

Each SELECTED film is screened for 2 weeks, via Vimeo On Demand, an online streaming service that is available via Smart TVs, desktop computers, and a host of mobile devices, including tablets and phones. Each film will be placed within their respective shows, with the top five films voted for on each page being sent to a final round .

Screening the latest independent shorts to as wide an audience as possible is the mission of Lift-Off Sessions and we are very grateful for this first worldwide promotion. It provides an invaluable opportunity for film enthusiasts to see much of the work we are doing.

HOW THE WINNERS ARE SELECTED

Festival scoring consists of two rounds, designed so that scoring and judging are fair, detailed, and reward the most committed and talented project.

Round 1: Global Round of Social Crowds

The first round is open to the general public, which rents the entire collection of films for the entire fortnight (US$20). We will be collecting "votes" that will come from our marketing efforts and with the support of the organizers. Everyone should vote for both their favorite and second favorite movies (by writing in the comments section on the Vimeo page). This is a great way for the festival to introduce new people to our work and to independent film in general.

Round 2: Internal Judges Round

The top 5 movies from each social round page will be sent to Lift-Off's in-house judges, who will dig deeper and score the movies based on multiple aspects. The film with the highest overall score wins.

The top voted finalist in each show will additionally receive a free intermediate membership worth $89.

THE AWARDS

Shorts:  The shorts will receive an official selection for a live screening at Pinewood Studios next year  and a screening at Raleigh Studios, Hollywood during the 2024 Los Angeles Lift-Off Film Festival , along with Professional Lift-Off Network membership for the filmmakers and producers involved in the project.

Membership entitles the production team to fee waivers at all 26 festivals and screenings at FilmFreeway , along with the 30-day Concept Challenge and the opportunity to apply for Market Representation .

Functions:

Each month's films come together for another week-long online screening so everyone can participate in each other's work, then followed by a day at Pinewood Studios where their trailers will be screened, industry workshops, and insider tips and commentary. .

SOME QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Is this an official take off or launch film festival?

Absolutely! Sessions is your essential entry into the Global Lift-Off Network, through which filmmakers can move to the screen with organizers at multiple events.

Will there be projection possibilities in rooms with Lift-Off?

That depends on how well your movie does in the Vimeo On Demand screening. Winning films are screened at the annual winners' showcase in Pinewood and Los Angeles. Seasonal award nominations are also up for grabs, which screen at Pinewood Studios, with winners receiving live theater screenings at each of our 12 city-based festivals!*

If the movie is online for a week, will this affect the chances of screening elsewhere?

Only if the film festival you are concerned about has their respective dates at the same time. Our film selection and screening online is much like being part of our live screening festival, except it will be online for the world to enjoy, but only for one week. After the festival officially ends, the film will no longer be available on the competition and exhibition platforms.

Why are they charging the public? Yes, Lift-Off charges a fee to rent the collection for a month of movie viewing. They also strongly believe that independent film should not be given away for free. Our ultimate goal is to build audiences that drive people to independent VOD projects that they are happy to pay to see.

See that last one. The organizers of this Festival, which has subsidiaries in different countries, were the first to say "RAMIREZ, Drama Musical Folk" the film and the short, which are brilliant films. London appreciates art. 

And it is invaluable that this comment comes from one of the most emblematic studios in the film industry such as Pinewood Studios.
